Premier League matches 18/04/10

One of the most unpredictable days of premier league football took place yesterday.

Birmingham 0-0 Hull
I'm shocked. You'd think that having had a good streak at home you'd be able to beat a team like Hull at home. But, this result is great for Hull who have earned a valuable point in the battle for survival. Well done Hull.

Blackburn 2-2 Everton
This result was about right. Both teams have shown that they are underdogs, but that they can shock big teams when it matters most. Blackburn and Everton will be teams to look out for next season. Well done to both teams. Sadly, I don't think either will play European football next season because of that result.

Fulham 0-0 Wolves
Wolves held Fulham to a draw at Craven Cottage(Fulham's stadium) because of the half-decent form they're on. Fulham would have won had Wolves not been on such decent form. I can see that Wolves will be in next season's Premier League. Well done Wolves for surviving the relegation drop.

Man. City 0-1 Man. United
This was pure luck. A last minute goal from Paul Scholes. Man. City just didn't hold it all together in the last few minutes. This and the Chelsea result mean that the run-in to the end of the season will be very exciting. Well done Man. United, but you haven't won the title yet.

Stoke 1-2 Bolton
Stoke should have won this. Bolton have a poor away record and Stoke have a great home record(in the FA cup at least). Bolton though have done great things under the management of Owen Coyle and Bolton will push for European football next season.

Sunderland 2-1 Burnley
Sunderland have done great things at home. They were always bound to beat Burnley, who are sadly going to be relegated at the rate that they're going at. Sunderland get the three points but, they are safe in mid-table. They can challenge for Europe next season if they're good enough.

Tottenham 2-1 Chelsea
Chelsea haven't had a good time at White Hart Lane in recent years. But it really mattered this time around and they failed to win it. The gap between them and second place Man. United is now only one point. Come on Chelsea. Tottenham have benefited from the result and now slip into fourth place in front of Man. City

Predictions for 'super sunday' include

Wigan 1-2 Arsenal
Portsmouth 1-2 Aston Villa

The battle for first and fourth place is rapidly heating up. Who will win these two big races.
