Mega issue 6-13/4/10

During my trip to Singapore, 2010 became a big year for the Champions League, one team became more likely to win the Premier League and an interesting FA cup final was set up.

On day 1
Barcelona 4-1 Arsenal
This match was sad for Arsenal, but a memorable one for Barcelona player Lionel Messi. It looked like Arsenal might win the tie after 19 minutes, but two minutes later, Lionel Messi scored a goal that weighed the tie in Barcelona's favor. In the 69 minutes left of the game Lionel Messi showed that he is one of the world's best players, scoring three more goals to send Barcelona through to the semi-finals. I saw the highlights, Arsenal were demolished, they deserved to go out.

On day 2
Man. United 3-2 Bayern Munich
Which meant that Man. United were the only English team left in the competition. They were without Rooney and the had to perform the not-so-easy task of beating an in-form Bayern Munich side. It proves that Wayne Rooney (Man. United's best striker) is paramount to Man. United's success and that isn't good. It also means that for the first time since 2003, there isn't any English clubs in the Champions League semi-finals.

On day 3
Liverpool 4-1 Benfica
Liverpool went into this match trying to go through having lost 2-1 in Portugal (the nation where Benfica plays). They did it superbly. If Liverpool were on the form that they had that night, all season, they would still be in contention for the Premier League. Torres was on great form and everything came into place for Liverpool. Well done Liverpool.

Wolfsburg 0-1 Fulham
Fulham have established a reputation of being this year's Europa League giant-killers. They have knocked out Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus and now Wolfsburg. All these teams have underestimated Fulham and that has become a great advantage. Fulham have knocked out another team and Hamburg are next to face the giant-killing power of Fulham.

On day 4
No matches

On day 5
In the FA cup
Aston Villa 0-3 Chelsea

Chelsea have been on top form lately. They scored 12 goals in two matches before beating Man. United at Old Trafford. Chelsea came ready and prepared. They went to Wembley Stadium (England's national stadium) and did what they went there to do, beat them. They head through to the FA cup final.

In the Premier League
Hull 1-4 Burnley

Burnley bounced back from their defeat by Man. City(see 4/4/10) superbly well. They got a result which keeps their Premier League hopes still vaguely alive. Hull are in trouble, a win in this match could have been a big help. Instead, they were thrashed by a team no better than them. Both teams don't stand a chance of being in the premier league next season.

West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

I thought that West Ham might be dead and gone, before I saw this result. This is a great result for West Ham who are now four comfortable points above the relegation zone (the bottom three places) and will almost certainly be in the premier league next season. Sunderland should have at least taken a point off this match. Well done West Ham.

On day 6

In the FA cup

Tottenham 0-2 Portsmouth

Fulham have been the Europa League surprise package, Portsmouth have been the surprise package of the FA cup. With all of the bad news at Portsmouth in the premier league, you wouldn't expect them to do well in the FA cup. Portsmouth have done superbly well in the FA cup when the games come along. They have shocked us all and never given up. Well done Portmouth. The FA cup final is Chelsea vs. Portsmouth.

In the Premier League

Blackburn 0-0 Man. United

I would not want to be Sir Alex Ferguson (the Man. United manager) at this point in time. Missing your star striker to injury, out of the Champions League, lost to Chelsea at home, drawn at Blackburn while Chelsea have a game in hand and Man. City away next. If Chelsea win against Bolton, Man. United's title hopes are all but over. Man. United cannot afford to drop points like that.

Liverpool 0-0 Fulham

Fulham are on form at the moment. To knock Wolfsburg out of the Europa League, and then draw with Liverpool at Anfield (Liverpool's stadium), is very good. Liverpool's hopes of 4th place are slowly disappearing with results like that. They might have to settle for Europa League football next season, rather than Champions League football.

Man. City 5-1 Birmingham

Man. City deserve the final Champions League spot (4th place). They've scored 11 goals in two matches and are on excellent form as they prepare to face Man. United at home. If I were Roberto Mancini (the Man. City manager), I'd be very happy with the situation of the club. Well done Man. City.

Wolves 0-0 Stoke

I'm surprised. Wolves were on great form coming into this match, and all of a sudden they lose against a team like Stoke at home. Very surprising. Wolves should have bagged all three points from this match as they pursue premier league survival.

On day 7

No matches

On day 8

Chelsea 1-0 Bolton
Chelsea were on good form coming into this match. I think that nerves alone might have stopped them from scoring more goals against Bolton. But all the same, Chelsea now have a four point lead over Man. United. Well done Chelsea

The north London derby is the highlight of the matches that I am about to predict.

Aston Villa 2-1 Everton
Tottanham 1-2 Arsenal
Wigan 1-1 Portsmouth

Will Arsenal bag a win in the north London derby? Do Aston Villa still have a chance for fourth place? Will Wigan drop into the relegation zone?
