Europa League matches 30/4/10

Sorry. Inibility to access the internet has caused the inability to post for a while, but I'm back and is there an all-english Europa League final?

Fulham 2-1 Hamburg (2-1)
This has just been a fairytale run for Fulham. They knocked out two German sides, the holders of the Europa League and a legendary Italian side on their way to the final. Fulham have pulled off miracles and should fly to Hamburg(also where the final will happen) singing 'when you believe' by Mariah Carey. Well done Fulham and I can't wait to see you in Hamburg.

Liverpool 2-1 Athletico Madrid (2-2) Athletico go through on away goal rule
Liverpool haven't had a good season at all. They went out of the FA cup, Carling cup and Champions League, they're now out of the Europa League and are 7th in the Pemier League, not even a place in next year's Europa League is guaranteed. Liverpool need to really rebuild their squad this summer and hope players like Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard don't leave.

The penulimate round of Premier League matches takes place this weekend. Here are predictions

Birmingham 2-0 Burnley
Man. City 2-1 Aston Villa
Portsmouth 1-2 Wolves
Stoke 1-1 Everton
Tottenham 3-1 Bolton

And there'll be more to come on Sunday and Monday.

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Premier League match 22/4/10

Only one premier league match.

Hull 0-2 Aston Villa
With this result, Aston Villa showed that they're still in the fight for the last Champions league spot. Aston Villa have showed that they haven't thrown in the towel yet. Hull in the mean time, have to take points off their last three games in order to ensure safety. They need three points to go level with West Ham, and if they get points Hull will need even more. Hull are in TROUBLE.
Thursday sees the first legs of the Europa League semi-finals. Predictions.

Athletico Madrid 1-0 Liverpool
Fulham 1-2 Hamburg

British teams, I'm behind you all the way.

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Premier League match 20/4/10

Just the one Premier League match today.

Liverpool 3-0 West Ham

This was no surprise. West Ham are dangling above relegation and Liverpool are starting to develop a decent home record. The result, a nice, comfartable 3-0 win for Liverpool. Well Done Liverpool. Will West Ham be able to get enough points to survive relegation in the next three games? Who knows?

On wednesday there is a match to be played at the KC stadium.

Hull 1-2 Aston Villa

Will Hull survive relegation?

Monday, April 19, 2010

Premier League matches 19/4/10

Eight goals were scored in the two games last night, who scored how many goals?

Portsmouth 1-2 Aston Villa
Portsmouth can't beat a team like Aston Villa at home. But, they can make the amount of points that Aston Villa earn as small as possible. Unfortunately for Portsmouth, Aston Villa took all three points, as they keep their fourth place hopes hanging by a thread.

Wigan 3-2 Arsenal
This a result that will go down in Wigan's history. Arsenal led 2-0 with ten minutes to go, and Wigan score three goals in the last ten minutes to see them take a giant step towards surviving relegation. WELL DONE WIGAN!!!!!!

Only one Premier League game tomorrow.

Liverpool 3-1 Wesdt Ham

Well, is Liverpool's fourth place battle still alive?

Premier League matches 18/04/10

One of the most unpredictable days of premier league football took place yesterday.

Birmingham 0-0 Hull
I'm shocked. You'd think that having had a good streak at home you'd be able to beat a team like Hull at home. But, this result is great for Hull who have earned a valuable point in the battle for survival. Well done Hull.

Blackburn 2-2 Everton
This result was about right. Both teams have shown that they are underdogs, but that they can shock big teams when it matters most. Blackburn and Everton will be teams to look out for next season. Well done to both teams. Sadly, I don't think either will play European football next season because of that result.

Fulham 0-0 Wolves
Wolves held Fulham to a draw at Craven Cottage(Fulham's stadium) because of the half-decent form they're on. Fulham would have won had Wolves not been on such decent form. I can see that Wolves will be in next season's Premier League. Well done Wolves for surviving the relegation drop.

Man. City 0-1 Man. United
This was pure luck. A last minute goal from Paul Scholes. Man. City just didn't hold it all together in the last few minutes. This and the Chelsea result mean that the run-in to the end of the season will be very exciting. Well done Man. United, but you haven't won the title yet.

Stoke 1-2 Bolton
Stoke should have won this. Bolton have a poor away record and Stoke have a great home record(in the FA cup at least). Bolton though have done great things under the management of Owen Coyle and Bolton will push for European football next season.

Sunderland 2-1 Burnley
Sunderland have done great things at home. They were always bound to beat Burnley, who are sadly going to be relegated at the rate that they're going at. Sunderland get the three points but, they are safe in mid-table. They can challenge for Europe next season if they're good enough.

Tottenham 2-1 Chelsea
Chelsea haven't had a good time at White Hart Lane in recent years. But it really mattered this time around and they failed to win it. The gap between them and second place Man. United is now only one point. Come on Chelsea. Tottenham have benefited from the result and now slip into fourth place in front of Man. City

Predictions for 'super sunday' include

Wigan 1-2 Arsenal
Portsmouth 1-2 Aston Villa

The battle for first and fourth place is rapidly heating up. Who will win these two big races.

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Premier League matches 15/4/10

The Premier League race got even more interesting after one result made the hopes of one candidate rather slim.

Aston Villa 2-2 Everton
These two teams are on the somewhat same form. They've both been teams that have done shockingly well this season. However, Aston Villa's hopes of 4th place have all but burnt out after this result. They need to keep winning games. If they don't, they're not even guaranteed a place in next season's Europa League let alone the Champions League.

Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal
Tottenham needed to win this match to show that 4th place was still within their grasp, they did superbly well. If it hadn't been for a late goal from Nicklas Bendter (Arsenal striker) they would have won 2-0. Tottenham have not only given Arsenal's title hopes a battering, but also make Man. City look back in fear.

Wigan 0-0 Portsmouth
Wigan are dangling by a small thread above the relegation zone. Wigan have to win matches if they want to ensure safety. I think that one win is all that's needed to ensure that Wigan play Premier league football next season. Portsmouth are already relegated, so they have the job of playing their last Premier League games and slipping other teams up.

There are seven Premier League matches on saturday, a day that could see Chelsea go seven points clear of Man. United.

Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Blackburn 2-1 Everton
Fulham 1-0 Wolves
Man. City 2-1 Man. United
Stoke 2-1 Bolton
Sunderland 2-0 Burnley
Tottenham 1-2 Chelsea.

Can Chelsea go seven points clear of Man. United?

Mega issue 6-13/4/10

During my trip to Singapore, 2010 became a big year for the Champions League, one team became more likely to win the Premier League and an interesting FA cup final was set up.

On day 1
Barcelona 4-1 Arsenal
This match was sad for Arsenal, but a memorable one for Barcelona player Lionel Messi. It looked like Arsenal might win the tie after 19 minutes, but two minutes later, Lionel Messi scored a goal that weighed the tie in Barcelona's favor. In the 69 minutes left of the game Lionel Messi showed that he is one of the world's best players, scoring three more goals to send Barcelona through to the semi-finals. I saw the highlights, Arsenal were demolished, they deserved to go out.

On day 2
Man. United 3-2 Bayern Munich
Which meant that Man. United were the only English team left in the competition. They were without Rooney and the had to perform the not-so-easy task of beating an in-form Bayern Munich side. It proves that Wayne Rooney (Man. United's best striker) is paramount to Man. United's success and that isn't good. It also means that for the first time since 2003, there isn't any English clubs in the Champions League semi-finals.

On day 3
Liverpool 4-1 Benfica
Liverpool went into this match trying to go through having lost 2-1 in Portugal (the nation where Benfica plays). They did it superbly. If Liverpool were on the form that they had that night, all season, they would still be in contention for the Premier League. Torres was on great form and everything came into place for Liverpool. Well done Liverpool.

Wolfsburg 0-1 Fulham
Fulham have established a reputation of being this year's Europa League giant-killers. They have knocked out Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus and now Wolfsburg. All these teams have underestimated Fulham and that has become a great advantage. Fulham have knocked out another team and Hamburg are next to face the giant-killing power of Fulham.

On day 4
No matches

On day 5
In the FA cup
Aston Villa 0-3 Chelsea

Chelsea have been on top form lately. They scored 12 goals in two matches before beating Man. United at Old Trafford. Chelsea came ready and prepared. They went to Wembley Stadium (England's national stadium) and did what they went there to do, beat them. They head through to the FA cup final.

In the Premier League
Hull 1-4 Burnley

Burnley bounced back from their defeat by Man. City(see 4/4/10) superbly well. They got a result which keeps their Premier League hopes still vaguely alive. Hull are in trouble, a win in this match could have been a big help. Instead, they were thrashed by a team no better than them. Both teams don't stand a chance of being in the premier league next season.

West Ham 1-0 Sunderland

I thought that West Ham might be dead and gone, before I saw this result. This is a great result for West Ham who are now four comfortable points above the relegation zone (the bottom three places) and will almost certainly be in the premier league next season. Sunderland should have at least taken a point off this match. Well done West Ham.

On day 6

In the FA cup

Tottenham 0-2 Portsmouth

Fulham have been the Europa League surprise package, Portsmouth have been the surprise package of the FA cup. With all of the bad news at Portsmouth in the premier league, you wouldn't expect them to do well in the FA cup. Portsmouth have done superbly well in the FA cup when the games come along. They have shocked us all and never given up. Well done Portmouth. The FA cup final is Chelsea vs. Portsmouth.

In the Premier League

Blackburn 0-0 Man. United

I would not want to be Sir Alex Ferguson (the Man. United manager) at this point in time. Missing your star striker to injury, out of the Champions League, lost to Chelsea at home, drawn at Blackburn while Chelsea have a game in hand and Man. City away next. If Chelsea win against Bolton, Man. United's title hopes are all but over. Man. United cannot afford to drop points like that.

Liverpool 0-0 Fulham

Fulham are on form at the moment. To knock Wolfsburg out of the Europa League, and then draw with Liverpool at Anfield (Liverpool's stadium), is very good. Liverpool's hopes of 4th place are slowly disappearing with results like that. They might have to settle for Europa League football next season, rather than Champions League football.

Man. City 5-1 Birmingham

Man. City deserve the final Champions League spot (4th place). They've scored 11 goals in two matches and are on excellent form as they prepare to face Man. United at home. If I were Roberto Mancini (the Man. City manager), I'd be very happy with the situation of the club. Well done Man. City.

Wolves 0-0 Stoke

I'm surprised. Wolves were on great form coming into this match, and all of a sudden they lose against a team like Stoke at home. Very surprising. Wolves should have bagged all three points from this match as they pursue premier league survival.

On day 7

No matches

On day 8

Chelsea 1-0 Bolton
Chelsea were on good form coming into this match. I think that nerves alone might have stopped them from scoring more goals against Bolton. But all the same, Chelsea now have a four point lead over Man. United. Well done Chelsea

The north London derby is the highlight of the matches that I am about to predict.

Aston Villa 2-1 Everton
Tottanham 1-2 Arsenal
Wigan 1-1 Portsmouth

Will Arsenal bag a win in the north London derby? Do Aston Villa still have a chance for fourth place? Will Wigan drop into the relegation zone?

Monday, April 5, 2010

Premier League matches 5/4/10

Results that affect the battle for 4th place and the battle for relegation are coming up on today's post.

Birmingham 1-1 Liverpool
I was always sure that Liverpool were going to draw in Birmingham. The reason being is that Birmingham are a very strong side at home. Birmingham've held three of the 'big four' teams to a draw at St. Andrews (Birmingham's stadium). Liverpool at least get a point, but the result put a huge dent in their fourth place hopes.

Everton 2-2 West Ham
WHAT?????? That doesn't make any sense. West Ham haven't won a game in ages, Everton have done superbly well at home this season, West Ham missed a penalty during the game, and they managed to leave Liverpool(The city that Everton play in) with one point. That is one thing and one thing only. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done West Ham.

Fulham 2-1 Wigan
Wigan are hanging by a thread over the relegation zone. They need points, and they need to get off the terrible form that they're on. They'll feel that they can breathe easier if they get more points. Come on Wigan. Fulham can happily finish the premier league in mid-table, but I think that they should've done better.

I will be in Singapore for eight days starting Tuesday, so we will now predict for another MEGA ISSUE.

On day 1
Barcelona 2-1 Arsenal

On day 2
Man. United 3-2 Bayern Munich

On day 3
Liverpool 2-0 Benfica
Wolfsburg 1-1 Fulham

On day 4
No matches

On day 5
In the FA cup
Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea

In the Premier League
Hull 2-1 Burnley
West Ham 2-2 Sunderland

On Day 6
In the FA cup
Tottenham 2-0 Portsmouth

In the Premier League
Blackburn 1-1 Man. United
Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
Man. City 3-0 Birmingham
Wolves 2-0 Stoke

On day 7
No matches

On day 8
Chelsea 3-0 Bolton

Well, prepare for the mega issue. Goodbye. BE PREPARED.

Premier League matches 4/4/10

There were a few big premier league matches today and a few big results.

Arsenal 1-0 Wolves
Arsenal were always going to beat Wolves. The question was by how much. Arsenal were without Cesc Fabregas and Wolves are on great form at the moment. I could therefore tell that Arsenal would probably only win by one goal. Wolves are still however going strong and I believe that we'll see them in the premier league next season.

Bolton 0-1 Aston Villa
Well, having lost 7-1 at Stamford Bridge (Chelsea's stadium) you'd question whether Aston Villa can recover from that. They did superbly well and they're still in the fight for fourth. Next week, they travel to Wembley stadium for the FA cup semi-finals against Chelsea. Can they beat Chelsea and make it to the final?

Burnley 1-6 Man. City
This is good for Man. City who slip into fourth place thanks to this victory(and other results). When Man. United came to Turf Moor during the first matches of the season, they lost 1-0. This shows that Man. City have bettered their Manchester counterparts at something. Burnley who are now in the relegation spots, need points. Great result for Man. City, well done for scoring 6 away from home.

Man. United 1-2 Chelsea
This is huge for Chelsea. Not only does this result put them top of the table, but for the first time since the 2004-2005 season, Chelsea have completed the double* over Man. United. Man. United who faltered the entire game were unlucky and now are two points behind the leaders, Chelsea. Does anyone want an ironic twist? In the 2004-2005 season when Chelsea completed the double over Man. United, they won the premier league that same season.

*Doing a double over a team is when a team beats another team at home and away.

Portsmouth 0-0 Blackburn
That is a very disappointing result for Blackburn, but a great one for Portsmouth. Portsmouth are doing well by at least getting one point. Every point counts when you're in the relegation zone, so well done Portsmouth. Blackburn were on such good form coming into this match, only to throw it all away at Fratton Park (Portsmouth's stadium), which has become an easy place to win games nowadays. Come on Blackburn

Stoke 2-0 Hull
As we've seen in the FA cup. Stoke have become a very strong side at home. We've also seen that Hull struggle when they're away from home. Hence a well deserved victory for Stoke. Hull now need points very badly.

Sunderland 3-1 Tottenham
Sunderland are another team that fall into the category, strong at home. Tottenham though they tried just didn't have the strength to push past Sunderland. This is bad news for Tottenham who now lose 4th place to Man. City, will they get it back?

Super sunday sees some super matches happen, let's see what might happen.

Birmingham 0-0 Liverpool
Everton 2-0 West Ham
Fulham 3-1 Wigan

See you then.

Europa League matches 2/4/10

Liverpool and Fulham represented England in last night's Europa League matches. How did they do?

Benfica 2-1 Liverpool
You would think that a result like this is a shock. But, it isn't, Benfica are a very strong team at home and probably deserved to win. Although when you find out that Liverpool took an early lead courtesy of Daniel Agger, but in the 60th minute Benfica won a penalty that was scored. In the 79th minute Jamie Carragher handled the ball in the penalty area, and Benfica knocked that second penalty past Reina and into the net. Benfica penalties two, Liverpool one.

Fulham 2-1 Wolfsburg
Fulham are doing very, very well in the Europa League. They've knocked out Juventus, Shakhtar Donetsk and have one foot in the semi-final after this win over Wolfsburg. They've done as good if not better than Liverpool in this European competition. Well done Fulham, hope to see you in the semi-finals.

Big matches in this weekend's matches. Predictions for saturday include...

Arsenal 3-2 Wolverhampton
Bolton 2-1 Aston Villa
Burnley 1-2 Man. City
Man. United 1-2 Chelsea
Portsmouth 0-1 Blackburn
Stoke 2-0 Hull
Sunderland 1-2 Tottenham

Big matches, big predictions we shall see how many are right. 'Bye till then.

Mega issue 27-31/3/10

Across the 5 days that I was in Lombok there were 5 days of action, in two competitions. Here comes the MEGA ISSUE.

On day 1
Birmingham 1-1 Arsenal
Let's start our second mega issue ever in Birmingham. Birmingham did very well to get the point and hold Arsenal. I think that the cause of the draw was that either Arsenal were focusing on their upcoming Champions League match against Barcelona (coming up) and/or that Birmingham have gotten better. Either way, well done Birmingham

Bolton 0-4 Man. United
I saw a result like this coming. Man. United are on very impressive form at the moment and it's very easy for them to beat teams like Bolton by four goals. Bolton will need more points to stay in the premier league. This match was not the one that I was most shocked about, the one that shocked me the most was...

Chelsea 7-1 Aston Villa
I'm going to say this in words in case you're a bit confused. Chelsea seven, Aston Villa one. Aston Villa are all but out of the race for fourth place after an appalling result like that. Aston Villa now join Sunderland in the group of teams that conceded seven goals at Chelsea. Come on Aston Villa. This is great for Chelsea, who now have a bigger goal difference than Man. United.

Hull 2-0 Fulham
For quite a while now, Hull have been very powerful at home. If you can remember they overpowered Man. City at home. So, a team like Fulham is going to have to work really hard to take three points away from the KC stadium (Hull's stadium). Great news for Hull who are trying hard to avoid relegation.

Tottenham 2-0 Portsmouth
Of course Tottenham were going to beat Portsmouth. The only question was by how much. Very soon these two will face off again at Wembley Stadium for the FA cup semi-final, Portsmouth have got to work had to assure that the scoreline isn't the same at Wembley. Tottenham are one step closer to Champions League football thanks to this result.

West Ham 0-1 Stoke
I want West Ham to suceed. But, they are failing miserably. Stoke have their heads nicely above water after a result like that. I think that if West Ham don't get more points, they're going to be relegated with Portsmouth this season.

Wolves 0-0 Everton
Wolves are playing very well at the moment, they are becoming very powerful. When you are very powerful you can beat teams like Everton. A great example of this was when Birmingham went on that great streak at the beginning of 2010. Go Wolves, well done.

On day 2
Burnley 0-1 Blackburn
Blackburn have put together a nice string of results. A draw at home against Chelsea, a win at home against Birmingham and a win away against Burnley. These guys will probabaly not qualify for the Europa League this season, but they deserve to. Burnley need to keep fighting to stay alive, they need points and they need them soon.

Liverpool 3-0 Sunderland
Of course Liverpool were going to beat Sundrland at home. Sunderland have a very bad away record (which included being thrashed 7-2 by Chelsea). Liverpool are on the mend and are making up for bad results before. Liverpool, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Man. City will fight out a big battle for that last Champions League spot.

On day 3
Man. City 3-0 Wigan
Wigan are not good enough to beat a team like Man. City. Very few teams have suceeded at beating Man. City at home. Wigan are not good enough to join that group of teams. Man. City are making sure that the race for fourth place stays super intense.

On day 4
Bayern Munich 2-1 Man. United
Very few teams have accomplished the feat of beating Bayern Munich in Munich. Man. United tried and they are still on decently good form, but it was not to be. The good news is that if the score is 1-0 to Man. United in Manchester, Man. United head through to the next round. Come on Man. United.

On day 5
Arsenal 2-2 Barcelona
Our first and last match of the maga issue includes Arsenal. A win against Barcelona home or away is not an easy thing to do. Arsenal are a very good side. I think that they can be satisfied by the draw. Arsenal do however have a bit of an upward battle in Barcelona, fortunately, English clubs have a decent record at the Nou Camp (Barcelona's stadium).

Now, there are Europa League matches tomorrow that include...

Benfica 1-1Liverpool
Fulham 2-1 Wolfsburg

There are also big matches on saturday including the top of the table clash between Chelsea and Man. United at Old Trafford. Bye 'till then.
