Premier League matches 30/1/10

For the first week in ages, we kind of expected the results that came.

Burnley 1-2 Chelsea

The Chelsea win was, I think almost guarenteed. I was interested in how Burnley played. I thought that the game would finish with no Burnley goals scored. But, Burnley can be rather good at home, as shown when they played Man. U here during the beginning of the season period, this is the SECOND time that Burnley have lost at home in the league. It was also good to see JT(John Terry) get a goal amidst all the bad publicity. Good job Chelsea.

Birmingham 1-1 Tottenham

I was fortunate enough to see the first half of this game. From the beginning shots were being fired in on both sides of the pitch. But a combination of good saves and crap shooting, ensured that the first half stayed goalless. However, I continously believed, during the first half, that there would be goals. Luckily I was right. With the quality of play that Birmingham are showing, they could easily be in Europe next season. They will fight the other teams all the way.

Liverpool 2-0 Bolton

This was a good result for the Merseysiders. This will get Liverpool on to their feet again. But, I'm still not convinced that Liverpool will grab that last champions league spot. They played against a crap team like Bolton, at home and they won. Even Fulham can do that. This was an obvious 2-0 win. But, it won't last forever.

Fulham 0-2 Aston Villa
I said Fulham could beat a crap team at home. Aston Villa, are a team that are chasing Europe. Aston Villa have also been doing great in the premier league, they drew with Arsenal at home in mid-week. Fulham, struggled against Accrington in mid-week, and lost in their London derby away to Tottenham. This was a deserved win for Aston Villa.

Hull 2-2 Wolves
Both these two teams have been doing rather average lately. I expected Hull to win by one goal. But Wolves drew with Liverpool recently, so Wolves got a good mid-week result. A draw was therefore coming around the corner.
West Ham 0-0 Blackburn
West Ham's season, hasn't been the best up until now. However, they are finally getting back on their feet. This might not have been the best of results for West Ham, but there will be some good form coming out of West Ham in the next few games. West Ham could be the new Birmingham.

Wigan 0-1 Everton
Wigan have been a little bit shakey lately with their mid-week loss to Blackburn and their draw with Notts County last week. Everton, other than their loss against Birmingham last week, have been doing rather well. Result.............................................. a win for Everton. Case dissmissed.

Tommorow some top teams are playing. Here are my predictions.

Arsenal 1-1 Man. U
Man. C 3-1 Portsmouth

Will I be right?

Premier League matches 27/1/10

We saw these results coming. Here they are.

Aston Villa 0-0 Arsenal
Aston Villa are very tough to beat at home. I didn't think that Arsenal would even draw, but luckily the gunners were able to salvage a point. Arsenal and Aston Villa, are two rather evenly matched sides, so the draw wasn't too much of a surprise.

Blackburn 2-1 Wigan
Both these teams haven't exactly been on the best of forms. But, Blackburn edge out Wigan in quality of football, as the result of the game showed. Both teams have great players, but Blackburn are the team that can match their players with skills that the players are taught.

Chelsea 3-0 Birmingham
I thought that Birmingham would give Chelsea a hard time, but their unbeaten streak came to an end after goals from Lampard and Malouda. Chelsea are a big four side on good form and Birmingham are an average side on good form. I thought that the average side would fight back, but it was three and easy for Chelsea.

Everton 2-0 Sunderland
Neither side have been on great form. Both teams crashed out of the FA cup last saturday. Either side could have gotten the goals except, it was played at Goodison Park (Everton's stadium). So, no surprise that Everton won.

and the Carling cup match

Man. U 3-1 Man. City (4-3 on aggregate)
To bo honest. United are a big famous side. City are growing to be a big famous side. But everyone who wants to do that needs a masterclass and that's what Man. U gave Man. City, a nice good beating. Manchester United will play Aston Villa, in the Carling cup final.

and predictions for saturday's games.

Birmingham 2-1 Tottenham
Burnley 0-2 Chelsea
Fulham 0-1 Aston Villa
Hull 2-1 Wolves
Liverpool 1-1 Bolton
West Ham 2-1 Blackburn
Wigan 1-1 Everton.

Goodbye for now

Premier League matches 26/1/10

It was a ... interesting night of premier league action. Here are the scores.
Bolton 1-0 Burnley
Bolton's new boss (Owen Coyle) has got Bolton winning games again. It's a little ironic that one of those games was against his old club (Burnley). He has succeeded in kicking new life into Bolton, and that's why Bolton took victory at the Reebok Stadium, (but also because of a Chung-Yong Lee goal).

Portsmouth 1-1 West Ham
I said three days ago on my blog that Portsmouth were coming out of the dark ages, this was more evidence of that. West Ham have been a rather decent side ever since Gianfranco Zola (another great Chelsea man) became manager. So, it's nice to see that Portsmouth haven't given in, and that they will fight to stay in the premier league.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham
This one was obvious. Team on great form versus team on crap form. Result, the team on good form wins by two goals or more. Tottenham, I hope we see you in the Champions league next season.

Wolves 0-0 Liverpool
Any idiot of a team can draw with Liverpool nowadays. Liverpool need to get rid of Rafa Benitez if they even vaguely want to reach Europe. For Wolves, they can be very happy after that result. Liverpool, the results you guys are getting, compared to the players you have, are just SAD.

Premier League predictions for tommorow...

Chelsea 3-2 Birmingham
Aston Villa 2-1 Arsenal
Everton 1-2 Sunderland
Blackburn 1-1 Wigan

and the Carling cup semi-final prediction for tommorow...
Man. United 2-1 Man. City (AET) 5-6 on penalties.

Au Revoir.

FA cup matches 24/1/10

Here are results that prove we are living in a 'mad world'

Scunthorpe 2-4 Man. City
I thought Man. City would crush Scunthorpe. They've been doing quite well this season, but it turns out Scunthorpe made them fight. If it was another premier league team, they might have gone through, but for now, hard luck Scunthorpe.

Stoke 3-1 Arsenal
I saw part of this match. I thought Stoke would prove easy for Arsenal, but they pushed Arsenal to the limits. It was 1-1 at half time, Arsenal had got a late goal, and I fell asleep. When I woke up and I read the score, I was amazed. Sorry Arsenal. The only big four team left in the FA cup is .......................................CHELSEA and we haven't even reached the last 16.

Meanwhile, here are next tuesday's premier league fixtures with predictions.

Bolton 1-1 Burnley
Portsmouth 0-2 West Ham
Tottenham 2-1 Fulham
Wolves 0-0 Liverpool

Bye.

FA cup matches and premier league match 23/1/10

Today was mixed fortunes for premier league sides. However here are the results.

Accrington 1-3 Fulham

At half time, this match had me thinking twice about could Fulham make it to the last 16(when the score was 1-1). I've always admired Accrington for their percieverance, I also being a Chelsea fan detest Fulham. I felt kind of sad when I read that Accrington had lost 3-1, but they'll be back make no mistake.

Aston Villa 3-2 Brighton

Like with the Fulham match, this match was 1-1 at half time. Brighton, who are managed by ex-Chelsea man Gus Poyet showed the capabilities to go on and win it. But it was not to be, as Aston Villa went through thanks to being the fact that they are a superb side, who could be in next season's champions league.

Bolton 2-0 Sheff. United
I've never thought much of Sheff. United. So it came as a shock when I heard it was 0-0 at half time. Bolton however, are one of those sides that can easily screw up to one of the 'minnows' as FA cup people call them. But, Bolton kept their cool and went through to the next round thanks to two second half goals.

Everton 1-2 Birmingham
If Birmingham are on anything at the moment, they're on FIRE.They have been unbeaten for ages. I got to see this match, and Birmingham played like Brazilians. Benitez and Ferguson getting two WORLD CLASS, first half goals. Everton stood no chance whatsoever in the first half. Leon Osman gave them a consolation goal in the second half, but the match was deservedly Birmingham's. Chelsea (my favorite team) play Birmingham next at home in the premier league.

Notts County 2-2 Wigan
Even with Sven Goran Eriksson making them a world-famous club, Notts County haven't exactly been my favorite team ever. Wigan have been doing rather well in the premier league. So to hear that Wigan were 2-0 down at half time seemed quite awkward. But Wigan came back with two goals of their own to level the tie and force a replay.

Portsmouth 2-1 Sunderland
Portsmouth's season has been everything that isn't good. Sunderland's has been quite brezzy, especially when Kenwyne Jones became an absolutely amazing player. Portsmouth have however started to recover, and I think this victory was evidence of that.

Preston NE 0-2 Chelsea
Chelsea had a rather bad december, but have made up for that with a great january. Anelka and Sturridge are becoming great together up front. Preston haven't exactly been a great side for about 100 years (when they last won the premier league). So this result was no surprise. Well done Chelsea.

Reading 1-0 Burnley
If Burnley were anything in this match they were downright unlucky. They hold Reading for 87 minutes, three minutes plus stoppage time away from a replay at their stadium and... Reading score.Reading, who also knocked out Liverpool are turning into great giant killers for the 2010 FA cup. Sorry Burnley, but you'll have to wait until next year.

Tottenham 2-2 Leeds
By far, the most exciting match of the night. A great Tottenham side, versus a Leeds side that knocked Man. Utd. Tottenham twice took the lead, but were denied by the same person that caused Man. Utd's woes, Jermaine Beckford. Once fouled by Michael Dawson, he was able to score a last minute penalty, to force a replay at Elland Road. Once again, that was downright UNLUCKY.

Wolves 2-2 Crystal Palace
This 2-2 draw wasn't interesting at all, it was crap side versus crap side. Obviously, they drew forcing a replay in London.

and the one premier league match.

Man. Utd 4-0 Hull
United have had a crap january, they needed something to get the wheels back in motion, the answer: a crap Hull side. Wayne Rooney steps up and bangs four goals past Boaz Myhill. Game over, maybe United can get better again.

Tonight there are two FA cup matches, I am going to predict the score.

Scunthorpe 0-3 Man. City
Stoke 1-2 Arsenal

Siya then.
